Just a few months ago, Trần Thế Vĩnh presented his series “Giai điệu trên cao” (Melodies Above)—a lyrical, abstract meditation inspired by Đà Lạt’s ethereal skies. With “Vũ Điệu Ngàn Hoa”, he takes a bolder turn: the forms are more expressive, more tangible, yet still elusive enough to blur the boundary between figuration and abstraction.
Vĩnh’s canvas is a playground of freedom—thick impasto textures shaped by vigorous palette knife strokes, dynamic drips of color, and sweeping brush gestures. His compositions burst with movement and energy, where hues collide and resonate, evoking not only the presence of flowers but also the breath of the earth, the whisper of the wind, and the pulse of life itself in Đà Lạt’s landscapes.
While “Giai điệu trên cao” lifted viewers into an airy dreamscape, “Vũ Điệu Ngàn Hoa” brings them back to the ground—face-to-face with blossoms in full bloom. Still vibrant and liberating, these new works offer a more grounded emotional anchor, balancing chaos and harmony.
As curator Phan Trọng Văn notes, this series marks a significant evolution in Vĩnh’s artistic journey: he doesn’t repeat himself but continuously ascends to new creative heights.
