Artist Trương Kim, born in 1972 in Cam Ranh – a land imbued with sunlight, wind, and the salt-laden breath of the Central coast – will officially present her latest solo exhibition entitled “Colors Through Time”.
The exhibition brings together 27 works created between 2021 and 2025, tracing the artist’s consistent creative journey inspired by lotuses, nature, Buddhism, and profound spiritual values.
What distinguishes Trương Kim’s practice is her unique use of 3D embossed oil painting technique—crafted with a self-formulated textured paste blended with oil colors—applied onto the canvas surface. Rather than remaining within the flatness of traditional painting, she models the surface almost like bas-reliefs, then layers multiple coats of color, transforming each work into a multidimensional space. Through this approach, the paintings extend beyond visual depth, evoking a fourth dimension—the dimension of time: where the blooming and withering of the lotus, the imprints of impermanence, and the fluctuations of inner consciousness are profoundly felt.
This debut solo exhibition by Trương Kim will officially open at 18:00, October 1, 2025 at Maii Art Space, and will be on view until October 10, 2025.
